2012 NFL DRAFT – FINAL MOCK

We’re now just a day away from the start of the 2012 NFL Draft and yet there are still a lot of uncertainties on how things will transpire come Thursday April 26th. There is a lot of ‘smoke’ out there regarding what teams will do, and each front office is trying to play their hand. We know trades will happen, and maybe even the unexpected – but here is a current look at what could happen. This Version, 5.0, is my Final Mock and will be a 7 Round Projection.

1st Round:

1. Colts – Andrew Luck, QB – Stanford *
15 years after selecting Peyton Manning, Luck is going to be their guy and QB of the future. Indy has a lot of rebuilding to do, but this is the right start.
Needs: QB, NT, WR, CB, TE, OG, DE, S, OLB, OT, RB, C.
Off-season Acquisitions:
WR Reggie Wayne (Re-Signed), DE/OLB Robert Mathis (Re-Signed), OT Winston Justice (Trade/Eagles), DT/DE Cory Redding (Ravens), S Tom Zbikowski (Ravens), C Samson Satele (Raiders), DT Brandon McKinney (Ravens), QB Drew Stanton (Trade/Jets), WR Donnie Avery (Titans), OG Mike McGlynn (Bengals), TE Kyle Miller (Jaguars)

2. Redskins (Rams) – Robert Griffin III, QB – Baylor *
They moved up for him, and they’ll get him. Pressure is on in DC after trading all those pick away; however, he has a better supporting cast compared to Luck in Indianapolis.
Needs: QB, CB, MLB, OG/C, RT, OLB, DT/DE, backup TE, RB, K.
Off-season Acquisitions:
TE Fred Davis (Franchised), WR Pierre Garcon (Colts), MLB London Fletcher (Re-Signed), S Tanard Jackson (Tampa Bay), WR Josh Morgan (49ers), QB Rex Grossman (Re-Signed), OT James Lee (Tampa Bay), OG Will Montgomery (Re-Signed), SS Brandon Merriweather (Bears), DE/DT Adam Carriker (Re-Signed), CB Cedric Griffin (Vikings), S Madieu Williams (49ers), DT Kedric Golston (Re-Signed), CB Leigh Torrence (Saints), OG Kory Lichtensteiger (Re-Signed), OLB Bryan Kehl (Rams)

3. Vikings – Michael Floyd, WR – Notre Dame
Minnesota may be looking to trade down, which leads me to believe Floyd is their target (why not just take either Kalil, Blackmon, or Claiborne here otherwise). Floyd is a bit of a surprise (maybe even a reach to some) at No.3, but in my opinion he has all the physical tools, may be more polished than Blackmon and is a good fit for their offense. Kalil may seem like the more likely choice if they can’t trade down, but I believe they want Floyd – and if they can’t trade down then they have to take Floyd here.
OPTION 2 – Trade Down
OPTION 3 – Morris Claiborne, CB
OPTION 4 – Matt Kalil, OT
OPTION 5 – Justin Blackmon, WR
Needs: LT, WRx2, S, MLB, CB, OG, DT, 3rd down RB, OLB, DE, C.
Off-season Acquisitions:
TE John Carlson (Seattle), DT Letroy Guion (Re-Signed), WR Jerome Simpson (Bengals), RB Lex Hilliard (Dolphins), OG Geoff Schwartz (Carolina), CB Zack Bowman (Bears), OLB Erin Henderson (Re-Signed), WR Devin Aromashodu (Re-Signed), CB Chris Carr (Ravens), FB Jerome Felton (Colts), QB Sage Rosenfels (Re-Signed), DT Fred Evans (Re-Signed), OLB Marvin Mitchell (Miami)

4. Browns – Trent Richardson, RB – Alabama *
Richardson is considered a ‘cant-miss’ prospect so I think they take him over Blackmon or Tannehill. It’s a passing league, but Cleveland needs to add a dynamic offensive weapon like Richardson. The Browns face the Ravens and Steelers twice a season (every season), so having a solid running-game to take the pressure off whoever quarterbacks the team is a must. If they would happen to want Tannehill, this would be the time to get him, but I see them targeting a QB at either No.22 or No.37.
OPTION 2 – Justin Blackmon, WR
OPTION 3 – Ryan Kalil, OT
OPTION 4 – Ryan Tannehill, QB
Needs: RB, WR, QB, RT, OLB, DE, OG/C, CB, DT, FS, TE.
Off-season Acquisitions:
MLB D’Qwell Jackson (Re-Signed), K Phil Dawson (Franchised), DE/OLB Frostee Rucker (Bengals), CB Dimitri Patterson (Re-Signed), DE Jaqua Parker (Eagles), OG John Greco (Re-Signed), WR Jordan Norwood (Re-Signed), OT Oniel Cousins (Re-Signed), TE Alex Smith (Re-Signed), DE Brian Schaefering (Re-Signed)

5. Tampa Bay – Morris Claiborne, CB – LSU *
Richardson may be their ideal selection (maybe they leap-frog Cleveland and make a deal with Minnesota), but Claiborne makes the most sense from a value standpoint. They added Eric Wright this off-season, but Claiborne still fills a need with aging Rhonde Barber having his best days behind him and Aqib Talib’s off the field issues. They could consider Kalil or even reach for Kuechly, but it’ll ultimately come down to Richardson or Claiborne. However, Claiborne is getting strong consideration at No.3 from Minnesota (with Richardson going No.4) so in that scenario a trade down would make the most sense – possibly with Buffalo looking to move up for Matt Kalil.
OPTION 2 – Trent Richardson, RB
OPTION 3 – Trade Up (for Richardson, RB)
OPTION 4 – Trade Down
OPTION 5 – Luke Kuechly, MLB
OPTION 6 – Matt Kalil, OT
Needs: RB, CB, SS, OLB, OG, MLB, LT, WR, FB, C, DT, TE.
Off-season Acquisitions:
WR Vincent Jackson (Chargers), OG Carl Nicks (Saints), CB Eric Wright (Lions), RB LeGarrette Blount (Re-Signed), DE Michael Bennett (Re-Signed), CB Rhonde Barber (Re-Signed), WR Preston Parker (Re-Signed), OG Jeremy Zuttah (Re-Signed), K Conner Barth (Franchised), DT Amobi Okoye (Bears), QB Dan Orlovsky (Colts), OT Jamon Meredith (Steelers), OT Demar Dotson (Re-Signed), K Kai Forbath (Dallas), TE Chase Coffman (Bengals), RB Robert Hughes (Bears)

6. Rams (Redskins) – Justin Blackmon, WR – Oklahoma State *
If St.Louis is looking to add a receiver they’ll likely have either Blackmon or Floyd to chose from at No.6. In this scenario I like adding Blackmon to solidify their receiving core. However, in the scenario that Blackmon (and Kalil at No.3 and Richardson at No.4) is gone then trading down could offer them the most value. The Rams decided to keep OT Jason Smith, which makes Kalil a less likely target compared to adding a WR, but if he is available they could move Roger Safffold to OG and roll the dice.
OPTION 2 – Matt Kalil, OT
OPTION 3 – Trent Richardson, RB
OPTION 4 – Trade Down
OPTION 5 – Morris Claiborne, CB
OPTION 6 – Michael Floyd, WR
Needs: WR, DT, CB, OT, RB, SS, OLB, OG/C, MLB, QB, DE, P.
Off-season Acquisitions:
CB Cortland Finnegan (Titans), C Scott Wells (Packers), DT/DE Kendall Langford (Dolphins), WR Steve Smith (Eagles), OLB Jo-Lonn Dunbar (Saints), DE William Hayes (Titans), DT Trevor Laws (Eagles), TE Matthew Mulligan (Jets), OG Robert Turner (Jets), OT Quinn Ojinnaka (Colts), QB Kellen Clemens (Re-Signed), FB Brit Miller (Re-Signed), QB Tom Brandstater (Re-Signed)

7. Jaguars – Matt Kalil, OT – USC *
I’d suspect that Jacksonville would be happy if Kalil indeed fell to them, but I think that it’d be unlikely (mainly because of Buffalo, Arizona, or the Jets trading up for him) – although, it could happen. The Jags will also consider adding an offensive weapon or a pass rusher with this pick, but new Head Coach Mike Mularkey won’t turn down an opportunity to sure up the offensive line.
OPTION 2 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 3 – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB
OPTION 4 – Trade Down
OPTION 5 – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS
Needs: WR, OT, DE, C, CB, RB, OLB, DT, P, OG, MLB, S, TE.
Off-season Acquisitions:
DE Jeremy Mincey (Re-Signed), WR Laurent Robinson (Dallas), CB William Middleton (Re-Signed), K Josh Scobee (Franchised), S/CB Dwight Lowery (Re-Signed), CB Aaron Ross (Giants), CB Rashean Mathis (Re-Signed), QB Chad Henne (Dolphins), WR Lee Evans (Ravens), OT Guy Whimper (Re-Signed), S Courtney Greene (Re-Signed), OLB Russell Allen (Re-Signed), DE C.J. Mosley (Re-Signed), P Nick Harris (Re-Signed), DT David Howard (Seattle), OT William Robinson (Re-Signed), K Sam Swank (Re-Signed)

8. Dolphins – Ryan Tannehill, QB – Texas A&M
Opinions differ on Tannehill’s value, but its seems likely he’ll end up going higher than most would project. The Dolphins need a QB, and the fact that new Offensive Coordinator Mike Sherman was the A&M coach would make this seem like a forgone conclusion. If Tannehill is gone, then Miami would be open to all kind of options here.
OPTION 2 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 3 – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB
OPTION 4 – Riley Reiff, OT
OPTION 5 – Luke Kuechly, MLB
OPTION 6 – Trade Down
Needs: QB, WRx2, RT, DE, TE, OLB, RG, S, NT/DL, CB.
Off-season Acquisitions:
NT/DT Paul Soliai (Re-Signed), FS/CB Richard Marshall (Ariozna), QB David Garrard (Jaguars), MLB E.J. Henderson (Vikings), OLB Gary Guyton (Patriots), RB Steve Slaton (Re-Signed), OG/OT Artis Hicks (Browns), S Tyrell Johnson (Vikings), WR Legedu Naanee (Dolphins), OT Lydon Murtha (Re-Signed), DE Ryan Baker (Re-Signed), MLB Jamaal Westerman (Jets), CB Jonathan Wade (Lions), TE Les Brown (Westminster College)

9. Carolina – Fletcher Cox, DT/DE – Mississippi State *
Carolina needs to add an interior defensive presence and Cox may be the way they go. Dontari Poe and Michael Brockers could be options, but Cox is making a strong case to be the first of the bunch off the board. If the Panthers look a different direction then MLB Luke Kuechly would make the most sense.
OPTION 2 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 3 – Luke Kuechly, MLB
OPTION 4 – Dontari Poe, DT/NT
OPTION 5 – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS
OPTION 6 – Michael Brockers DT/DE
Needs: DT/DL, CB, WR, OLB, OG, MLB, RT, DE, TE, P/K, S.
Off-season Acquisitions:
WR Steve Smith (Extension), RB Mike Tolbert (Chargers), OG Bruce Campbell (Trade/Oakland), C Geoff Hangartner (Re-Signed), S/ST Haruki Nakamura (Ravens), QB Derek Anderson (Re-Signed), S Reggie Smith (49ers), OG Mike Pollak (Colts), DE Antwan Applewhite (Re-Signed), MLB Jason Phillips (Re-Signed), OLB Jordan Senn (Re-Signed), OLB Kenny Onatolu (Vikings), C/LS J.J. Jansen (Re-Signed)

10. Bills – Riley Reiff, OT – Iowa *
Losing OT Demetrius Bell leaves a void that must be addressed early in this draft, therefore, Reiff would be the likely choice. I think Mike Adams could have gotten some consideration before reports that he failed a drug test at the combine. Nonetheless, Reiff should be available if they want him – but would they consider moving up for Kalil should he slip some? I think it’d be worth it.
OPTION 2 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 3 – Trade Up (for Kalil, OT)
OPTION 4 – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS
OPTION 5 – Jonathan Martin, OT
OPTION 6 – Bobby Massie, OT
Needs: OT, WR, CB, TE, OLB, Backup QB, MLB, OG, DE, DB.
Off-season Acquisitions:
DE/OLB Mario Williams (Texans), WR Stevie Johnson (Re-Signed), OG Kraig Urbik (Re-Signed), TE Scott Chandler (Re-Signed), DE Mark Anderson (Patriots), MLB Kirk Morrison (Re-Signed), K Rian Lindell (Re-Signed), OG Chad Rinehart (Re-Signed), SS Bryan Scott (Re-Signed), RB Tashard Choice (Re-Signed), WR Ruvell Martin (Re-Signed), WR Derek Hagan (Re-Signed)

11. Chiefs – David DeCastro, OG – Stanford *
Interior offensive-lineman usually don’t get selected this high in the draft, but DeCastro is a rare talent that should become an All-Pro caliber player. Kansas City added OT Eric Winston and getting DeCastro here would continue to upgrade the offensive line. I think they’ll be tempted with Dontari Poe and Luke Kuechly, but I like the idea of adding DeCastro even though it may seem a little early.
OPTION 2 – Dontari Poe, NT/DT
OPTION 3 – Luke Kuechly, MLB
OPTION 4 – Trade Up (for Tannehill, QB)
OPTION 5 – Dont’a Hightower, MLB
Needs: NT, OG, MLB, S, C, OLB, RB, DE, WR, CB, QB.
Off-season Acquisitions:
WR Dwayne Bowe (Franchised), OT Eric Winston (Texans), RB Peyton Hillis (Browns), CB Stanford Routt (Oakland), MLB Jovan Belcher (Re-Signed), TE Kevin Boss (Oakland), QB Brady Quinn (Broncos), CB Travis Daniels (Re-Signed), TE Jake O’Connell (Re-Signed), DT Amon Gordon (Re-Signed), DB Mikail Baker (Rams)

12. Seattle – Luke Kuechly, MLB – Boston College
With Kuechly you know what you’re getting – a tackling machine. Seattle added MLB Barrett Ruud, but that was on a 1 year contract so they still need to rebuild their linebacker unit and Kuechly would be the way to start. I wouldn’t be surprised if Kuechly was taken higher, which would possibly open the door for Melvin Ingram or Quinton Coples. Also, DeCastro will get consideration here if available.
OPTION 2 – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB
OPTION 3 – David DeCastro, OG
OPTION 4 – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE
OPTION 5 – Quinton Coples, DE/DT
OPTION 6 – Dont’a Hightower, MLB
OPTION 7 – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS
OPTION 8 – Trade Up (for Tannehill, QB)
Needs: DE, MLB, LG, OLB, CB, TE, QB, WR, OT, RB, S .
Off-season Acquisitions:
QB Matt Flynn (Packers), RB Marshawn Lynch (Re-Signed), DT/DE Red Bryant (Re-Signed), CB Marcus Trufant (Re-Signed), DT/DE Jason Jones (Titans), MLB Barrett Ruud (Titans), OG Deuce Lutui (Arizona), OLB Leroy Hill (Re-Signed), OT Breno Giacomini (Re-Signed), OT Frank Omiyale (Bears), OG Paul McQuistan (Re-Signed), RB Kregg Lumpkin (Tampa Bay), FB Michael Robinson (Re-Signed), OLB Matt McCoy (Re-Signed), CB Roy Lewis (Re-Signed), MLB Heath Farwell (Re-Signed), RB Tyrell Sutton (Carolina)

13. Arizona – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB – South Carolina
The Cardinals need to sure up their offensive line, but at this point Ingram offers the most value. Calais Campbell was Franchised only is playing on a 1 year contract for 2012 so if he isn’t retained on a long-term deal Ingram would be able to replace him as a DE (or if retained, play with him as an OLB in the 3-4 scheme).
OPTION 2 – Riley Reiff, OT
OPTION 3 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 4 – Luke Kuechly, MLB
OPTION 5 – Quinton Coples, DE/DT
OPTION 6 – Cordy Glenn, OG/OT
Needs: RT, WR, DE/OLB, C/OG, DE/DT, MLB, S, QB, P, CB.
Off-season Acquisitions:
DE/OLB Calais Campbell (Franchised), OT Levin Brown (Re-Signed), OG/OT Adam Snyder (49ers), CB William Gay (Steelers), K Jay Feely (Re-Signed), WR Early Doucet (Re-Signed, CB Greg Toler (Re-Signed), S James Sanders (Falcons), OT D’Anthony Batiste (Re-Signed), RB LaRod Stephens-Howling (Re-Signed), S Rashad Johnson (Re-Signed), CB A.J. Jefferson (Re-Signed), RB Alfonso Smith (Re-Signed), OLB Reggie Walker (Re-Signed), WR Stephen Williams (Re-Signed), QB Richard Bartel (Re-signed), P Dave Zastudil (Re-Signed), C/LS Mike Leach (Re-Signed), OLB Brandon Williams (Re-Signed)

14. Dallas – Mark Barron, SS – Alabama
The Cowboys draft Roy Williams at No.8 overall in 2002 so they won’t shy away from a safety this high. Barron is extremely talent and would help sure up the secondary (along with the addition of CB Brandon Carr) in Dallas. If the Cowboys think about going another direct then likely targets would include Dontari Poe, Michael Brockers, or Quinton Coples (they once draft a UNC lineman high too, Greg Ellis).
OPTION 2 – Dontari Poe, NT/DT
OPTION 3 – Michael Brockers DT/DE
OPTION 4 – Quinton Coples, DE/DT
OPTION 5 – David DeCastro, OG
Needs: DT/NT, SS, TE, WR, DE/OLB, OG, CB, P, RB, C, QB.
Off-season Acquisitions:
CB Brandon Carr (Chiefs), OLB/DE Anthony Spencer (Re-Signed), QB Kyle Orton (Chiefs), MLB Dan Conner (Carolina), OG Nate Livings (Bengals), OG/C Mackenzy Bernadeau (Carolina), S Brodney Pool (Browns), FB Lawrence Vickers (Texans), WR Kevin Ogletree (Re-Signed), DE Clifton Geathers (Re-Signed), QB Rudy Carpenter (Tampa Bay)

15. Eagles – Dontari Poe, DT/NT – Memphis *
I think they would prefer Fletcher Cox (would they trade up for him?), but Poe would be a nice addition for them as well. They’re looking for a presence in the middle of the defensive (DeMeco Ryans was a nice addition as a MLB – thus ruling out Kuechly or Hightower), but they’d also like to upgrade the safety position too so Barron could be their guy. I’d also expect them to end up trading CB Asante Samuel (to Atlanta?) in the coming days, so you can’t rule out Stephon Gilmore or Dre Kirkpatrick either. The trading up for Tannehill talk, I don’t buy it – but crazier things have happened.
OPTION 2 – Mark Barron, SS
OPTION 3 – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE
OPTION 4 – Trade Up (for Cox, DT/DE)
OPTION 5 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 6 – Trade Up (for Tannehill, QB)
OPTION 7 – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS
Needs: DT, OLB, SS, Backup QB, WR, OT, RB, TE, OG/C, DE, CB.
Off-season Acquisitions:
WR DeSean Jackson (Re-Signed), DE Trent Cole (Extension), MLB DeMeco Ryans (Trade/Texans), OT Demetrius Bell (Bills), OG Evan Mathis (Re-Signed), OT Todd Herremans (Extension), C Steve Vallos (Browns), OT King Dunlap (Re-Signed), QB Trent Edwards (Oakland), OG Mike Gibson (Seattle), DT Derek Landri (Re-Signed), DT Antonio Dixon (Re-Signed)

16. Jets – Quinton Coples, DE/DT – North Carolina
The Jets have more desirable needs here, but Coples probably would be too hard to pass on here. I think upgrading the offense should be the main focus; however, they have a lot of holes to fill on the defensive side of the ball too. Coples is a nice addition – as would be Barron, Ingram, Upshaw, or Hightower – but I think Floyd, Reiff, Glenn, or DeCastro would have a better impact initially. Chandler Jones, Stephen Hill, Dre Kirkpatrick and Michael Brockers are other names to keep an eye on here.
OPTION 2 – Riley Reiff, OT
OPTION 3 – Mark Barron, SS
OPTION 4 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 5 – Cordy Glenn, OG/OT
OPTION 6 – Dont’a Hightower, MLB
OPTION 7 – Stephen Hill, WR
OPTION 8 – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE
Needs: RT, WRx2, OLB, SS/FS, OG, MLB, DE, RB, CB, TE.
Off-season Acquisitions:
QB Mark Sanzchez (Extension), QB Tim Tebow (Trade/Denver), SS LaRon Landry (Redskins), NT Sione Pouha (Re-Signed), WR Chaz Schilens (Oakland), OLB/DE Aaron Maybin (Re-Signed), DE/OLB Bryan Thomas (Re-Signed), TE Hayden Smith (Australian Rugby), K Nick Folk (Re-Signed), DE Jay Richardson (Seattle), CB DeAngelo Smith (Browns), C Kris O’Dowd (Arizona)

17. Bengals (Oakland) – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS – South Carolina
It’s very possible that Gilmore will hear his name called earlier than this spot, but with that said it offers good value for Cincinnati. Gilmore is a fast rising prospect, who some see as more of a FS due to a possible struggle with one-on-one coverage. They have added CB help with the signings of Terrance Newman and Jason Allen (and the return of Pacman Jones), but they need a better long-term solution. This could be a possible spot for DeCastro should he slip, or for the Bengals to upgrade the receiver position.
OPTION 2 – David DeCastro, OG
OPTION 3 – Mark Barron, SS
OPTION 4 – Michael Floyd, WR
OPTION 5 – Cordy Glenn, OG/OT
OPTION 6 – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB/FS
Needs: CB, WR, OG, SS, RB, MLB, OLB, DT, OT, DE.
Off-season Acquisitions:
S Reggie Nelson (Re-Signed), CB Terrance Newman (Dallas), RB BenJarvus Green-Ellis (Patriots), OG Travelle Wharton (Carolina), OLB/DE Manny Lawson (Re-Signed), DE Derrick Harvey (Broncos), DE Jamaal Anderson (Colts), OG Jacob Bell (Rams), K Mike Nugent (Franchised), CB Adam Jones (Re-Signed), CB Jason Allen (Texans), DT Pat Sims (Re-Signed), OT Anthony Collins (Re-Signed), TE Donald Lee (Re-Signed), OT Dennis Roland (Re-Signed), RB Aaron Brown (Lions), FB Chris Pressley (Re-Signed), LB/LS Dan Skuta (Re-Signed), S Jeromy Miles (Re-Signed)

18. Chargers – Chandler Jones, DE/OLB – Syracuse *
San Diego lost All-Pro OG Kris Dielman to retirement and released OT Marcus McNeill so should the right offensive lineman attract them they could pounce. The Chargers however need to upgrade their pass rush and Jones offers help in that area. They’ll be looking for that rush OLB and could find help in the way of Melvin Ingram, Whitney Mercilus, Nick Perry, or Courtney Upshaw. If they go a different direction then considering Mark Barron, David DeCastro, or even Dont’a Hightower make sense.
OPTION 2 – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB
OPTION 3 – Mark Barron, SS
OPTION 4 – David DeCastro, OG
OPTION 5 – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE
OPTION 6 – Whitney Mercilus, OLB/DE
Needs: OG, OLB, SS/FS, NT/DT, TE, RB, RT, DE, C, CB, MLB, WR.
Off-season Acquisitions:
OT Jared Gaither (Re-Signed), WR Robert Meachem (Saints), DE/OLB Jarret Johnson (Ravens), C Nick Hardwick (Re-Signed), WR Eddie Royal (Broncos), DE/DT Luis Castillo (Re-Signed), DT/NT Antonio Garay (Re-Signed), FB/RB Le’Ron McClain (Chiefs), QB Charlie Whitehurst (Seattle), OT Mario Henderson (Oakland), S Atari Bigby (Seattle), OG/OT Brandyn Dombrowski (Re-Signed), WR Roscoe Parrish (Bills), TE Randy McMichael (Re-Signed), FB/RB Jacob Hester (Re-Signed), OLB Demorrio Williams (Chiefs), TE Dante Rosario (Denver), WR/KR Michael Spurlock (Tampa Bay), TE Kory Sperry (Re-Signed), C Mike Windt (Re-Signed), OG Tony Moll (Re-Signed)

19. Bears – Michael Brockers, DT/DE – LSU **
The right offensive lineman would be tempting for Chicago (and for new Offensive Coordinator Mike Tice), but they made an addition with Chilo Rachal this week on a 1 year deal to make that less of a need this early. Brockers is one of my favorite players in the draft, and I think he has a lot of upside (even being compared to a young Richard Seymour). I wouldn’t be surprised if he went higher, I think teams could be more intrigued by him than they’re letting on – but nonetheless it’s a nice pick for the Bears at this point.
OPTION 2 – Dontari Poe, NT/DT
OPTION 3 – Cordy Glenn, OG/OT
OPTION 4 – Coby Fleener, TE
OPTION 5 – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS
OPTION 6 – Mike Adams, OT
OPTION 7 – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB/FS
Needs: DT, LT, TE, CB, OLB, OG, DE, WR, MLB, S, C.
Off-season Acquisitions:
RB Matt Forte (Franchised), WR Brandon Marshall (Trade/Dolphins), RB Michael Bush (Oakland), OLB Lance Briggs (Extension), QB Jason Campbell (Oakland), OG Chilo Rachal (49ers), WR/KR Eric Weems (Falcons), OLB Geno Hayes (Tampa Bay), TE Kellen Davis (Re-Signed), DE Israel Idonije (Re-Signed), CB Kelvin Hayden (Falcons), CB Jonathan Wilhite (Denver), CB Tim Jennings (Re-Signed), WR/ST Devin Thomas (Giants), OLB/ST Blake Costanzo (49ers), QB Josh McCown (Re-Signed), S Craig Steltz (Re-Signed)

20. Titans – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB/FS – Alabama
I think Kirkpatrick is a good fit to replace CB Cortland Finnegan in Tennessee, but I also think he is talented enough to be gone by this point. Obviously, replacing Finnegan is a major need so the like of Gilmore, Janoris Jenkins, or possibly Josh Robinson could be considered here. I think Virginia Tech CB Jayron Hosley could be a potential sleeper for this pick. The addition of Kamerion Wimbley helped with their need for the DE/OLB type but should Quinton Coples fall he’d be hard to pass on – but they will be looking for DT help. Also, their coach is a former offensive lineman, so I wouldn’t rule out the possibility of upgrading the line early on.
OPTION 2 – Quinton Coples, DE/DT
OPTION 3 – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS
OPTION 4 – Michael Brockers, DT/DE
OPTION 5 – Dontari Poe, NT/DT
OPTION 6 – Jonathan Martin, OT
OPTION 7 – Jayron Hosley, CB
Needs: CB, OT, DT, MLB, C, DE/OLB, WR, OG, TE, S, RB.
Off-season Acquisitions:
S Michael Griffin (Franchised), DE/OLB Kamerion Wimbley (Raiders), OG Steve Hutchinson (Vikings), S Jordan Babineaux (Re-Signed), OT Mike Otto (Re-Signed), DE Dave Ball (Re-Signed), WR Lavelle Hawkins (Re-Signed), OLB Tim Shaw (Re-Signed), DT Leger Douzable (Jaguars), DE Keyunta Dawson (Lions)

21. Bengals – Cordy Glenn, OG/OT – Georgia
The Bengals are finally able to build upon some nice young talent, and they should really be able to upgrade their team with picks No.17 and No.21. They added Travelle Wharton this off-season, but Glenn provides an upgrade to either OG or OT along their line. If they fail to land a CB at No.17 then this could be a spot to target help at that position or they may look for a WR like Stephen Hill or Kendall Wright here.
OPTION 2 – David DeCastro, OG
OPTION 3 – Kendall Wright, WR
OPTION 4 – Stephen Hill, WR
OPTION 5 – Dont’a Hightower, MLB
OPTION 6 – Doug Martin, RB
Needs: CB, WR, OG, SS, RB, MLB, OLB, DT, OT, DE.

22. Browns (Falcons) – Bobby Massie, OT – Mississippi State *
The Browns are looking for RT opposite Joe Thomas and they could find help in Massie, Jonathan Martin, or Mike Adams here. Massie is creeping into the 1st round discussion, but most may think it’s a bit early for him. Jeff Allen of Illinois could be a sleeper here. If the Browns pass on Richardson at No.4 they’ll be in the market for a RB, but they can probably wait a round or two to address that in that scenario. More likely here at No.22 would be them targeting a QB or WR should they pass on Tannehill and Blackmon at No.4 – it’s very likely they consider QB Brandon Weeden with this pick.
OPTION 2 – Jonathan Martin, OT
OPTION 3 – Brandon Weeden, QB
OPTION 4 – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE
OPTION 5 – Kendall Wright, WR
OPTION 6 – Mike Adams, OT
OPTION 7 – Stephen Hill, WR
Needs: RB, WR, QB, RT, OLB, DE, OG/C, CB, DT, FS, TE.

23. Lions – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE – Alabama
Upshaw has seen his stock drop slightly in recent weeks, but he is still a very talented player. However, it’s likely the Lions would consider an OT like Jonathan Martin or Mike Adams here are a potential replacement for aging Jeff Backus. The Lions are known for taking the best available player and even with the ‘tweener’ label Upshaw fits the bill and a need. The other likely choice would be a CB for Detroit, with a possible sleeper being OLB Lavonte David.
OPTION 2 – Mike Adams, OT
OPTION 3 – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB/FS
OPTION 4 – Jonathan Martin, OT
OPTION 5 – Lavonte David OLB
OPTION 6 – Peter Konz, C/OG
OPTION 7 – Whitney Mercilus, OLB/DE
Needs: OT, CB, OLB, OG/C, S, DE, MLB, RB, WR, FB/TE.
Off-season Acquisitions:
WR Calvin Johnson (Extension), DE/OLB Cliff Avril (Franchised), MLB Stephen Tulloch (Re-Signed), OT Jeff Backus (Re-Signed), CB Jacob Lacey (Colts), RB Kevin Smith (Re-Signed), QB Shaun Hill (Re-Signed), DT Sammie Lee Hill (Re-Signed), DE Everette Brown (Chargers), OLB DeAndre Levy (Re-Signed), OT Corey Hilliard (Re-Signed), MLB Ashlee Palmer (Re-Signed), S Erik Coleman (Re-Signed), DT Andre Fluellen (Re-Signed), P Ben Graham (Re-Signed), C/LS Don Muhlbach (Re-Signed), WR Terrance Toliver (Texans)

24. Steelers – Dont’a Hightower, MLB – Alabama
Pittsburgh will be looking to get younger on the defensive side of the ball – and well they need to replace James Farrior and what better way to do than with a stud like Hightower. Hightower has some potential to go higher, but there is also a chance another defensive prospect could fall to them (Dontari Poe?). I think this is an important draft for Pittsburgh moving forward, so their picks need to be good ones. The Steelers could reach for another MLB if Hightower is gone, address the NT spot, or upgrade the offensive line.
OPTION 2 – Dontari Poe, NT/DT
OPTION 3 – Jonathan Martin, OT
OPTION 4 – Jerel Worthy, DT
OPTION 5 – Kendall Reyes, DT/DE
OPTION 6 – Mychal Kendricks, MLB

25. Denver – Derek Wolfe, DT/DE – Cincinnati
They lost DT Brodrick Bunkley this off-season, and while they added Justin Bannan –I think they’ll still be looking to upgrade the position. Michael Brockers would be an easy choice is he falls, and we often see Jerel Worthy or Kendall Reyes mocked here – however, Wolfe is the guy I’m going with. Wolfe is an under-the-rader prospect who is gaining a lot of interest with his long arms and ability to makes plays against the run. There are a lot of expectations for the Broncos to succeed this season, getting the right pieces in place is vital.
OPTION 2 – Michael Brockers, DT/DE
OPTION 3 – Shea McClellin, DE/OLB
OPTION 4 – Kendall Reyes, DT/DE
OPTION 5 – Jerel Worthy, DT
OPTION 6 – Janoris Jenkins, CB
Needs: DT, CB, DE/OLB, RB, OG/C, WR, QB, MLB, OT, S, TE.
Off-season Acquisitions:
QB Peyton Manning (Colts), S Mike Adams (Browns), CB Tracy Porter (Saints), TE Jacob Tamme (Colts), K Matt Prater (Franchised), WR Andre Caldwell (Bengals), DT Justin Bannan (Rams), WR Brandon Stockley (Giants), TE Joel Dreessen (Texans), MLB Joe Mays (Re-Signed), OLB Wesley Woodyard (Re-Signed), QB Caleb Hanie (Bears), DE Jason Hunter (Re-Signed), WR Matt Willis (Re-Signed), P Britton Colquitt (Re-Signed), OG Manny Ramirez (Re-Signed), WR Jason Hill (Jaguars), TE Cornelius Ingram (Eagles)

26. Texans – Jonathan Martin, OT – Stanford *
It was originally thought that Martin would be valued much higher than this, but for the Texans it’d be a nice way to replace Eric Winston. The Texans need to add some receiver help, and find a replacement for Mario Williams – but making sure Arian Foster and the run game continues to keep rolling is equally as important. If Martin is gone, Bobby Massie would make sense or they could go the direction of Stephen Hill, Kendall Wright, or Nick Perry.
OPTION 2 – Bobby Massie, OT
OPTION 3 – Stephen Hill, WR
OPTION 4 – Mike Adams, OT
OPTION 5 – Whitney Mercilus, OLB/DE
OPTION 6 – Nick Perry, DE/OLB
Needs: OT, WR, MLB, DE/OLB, OG, CB, NT/DT, TE, S, C, K.
Off-season Acquisitions:
RB Arian Foster (Re-Signed), C Chris Myers (Re-Signed), MLB Bradie James (Dallas), P Donnie Jones (Rams), S Quintin Demps (Re-Signed), MLB/ST Tim Dobbins (Re-Signed), C/LS Jon Weeks (Re-Signed)

27. Patriots (Saints) – Lavonte David, OLB – Nebraska
David is a prospect who would be a nice addition for the Patriots, as a true OLB, compared to other hyprid DE/OLB types. He is a player that could be a sleeper to go higher than people think as well. Other possible targets here include Nick Perry, Shea McClellin, and they’d love to see Courtney Upshaw fall. New England could also go with Reyes, Worthy, or Harrison Smith – but you just never know about the Patriots logic.
OPTION 2 – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE
OPTION 3 – Kendall Reyes, DT/DE
OPTION 4 – Nick Perry, DE/OLB
OPTION 5 – Jerel Worthy, DT
OPTION 6 – Shea McClellin, DE/OLB
Needs: DT/NT, OLB, CB, C/OG, S, DE, WR, RB, MLB, KR, OT.
Off-season Acquisitions:
WR Wes Welker (Franchised), WR Brandon Lloyd (Rams), OG Robert Gallery (Seattle), OG/C Dan Connolly (Re-Signed), WR Deion Branch (Re-Signed), C Dan Koppen (Re-Signed), S Steve Gregory (Chargers), DE/DT Jonathan Fanene (Bengals), WR Anthony Gonzalez (Colts), DE Trevor Scott (Raiders), FB Tony Fiammetta (Dallas), MLB Bobby Carpenter (Dolphins), FB Spencer Larsen (Denver), CB Will Allen (Dolphins), TE Daniel Fells (Broncos), WR Donte Stallworth (Redskins), QB Brian Hoyer (Re-Signed), WR/ST Matthew Slater (Re-Signed), OLB Tracy White (Re-Signed), CB Marquice Cole (Jets)

28. Packers – Nick Perry, DE/OLB – USC *
The Packers defense was a huge problem last season, so you can bet that Defensive Coordinator Dom Capers will have input on adding players to change that. Perry was once considered a possible Top 20 guy, but should find himself somewhere in the latter part of Round 1. I like Perry, and think he is a good fit for Green Bay. Also, the Packers released OT Chad Clifton this week, so that may become a position of greater need. Nonetheless, I’d expect Green Bay to focus on defense early and often.
OPTION 2 – Janoris Jenkins, CB
OPTION 3 – Whitney Mercilus, OLB/DE
OPTION 4 – Shea McClellin, DE/OLB
OPTION 5 – Lavonte David, OLB
OPTION 6 – Jeff Allen, OT/OG
OPTION 7 – Jayron Hosley, CB
Needs: OLB, CB, DE/DT, Backup QB, OT, C/OG, S, RB, MLB, WR.
Off-season Acquisitions:
TE Jermichael Finley (Re-Signed), C Jeff Saturday (Colts,) DE/OLB Erik Walden (Re-Signed), DE Anthony Hargrove (Seattle), DT Dan Muir (Colts), CB Jarrett Bush (Re-Signed)

29. Ravens – Harrison Smith, SS – Notre Dame
Ed Reed seems to contemplate retire day-to-day (plus they lost Tom Zbikowski this off-season) so adding quality players to the position has to be an area they address. I think Smith has all the intangibles and fits Baltimore’s aggressive style. The Ravens could go a different direction, with Peter Konz being the next likely choice even though C Matt Birk did resign. Also, they could stand to find a replacement for Ben Grubbs. Ray Lewis is still playing at a high level, but he can’t play forever – so looking for a MLB or replacing Jarrett Johnson is another idea.
OPTION 2 – Peter Konz, C/OG
OPTION 3 – Kevin Zeitler, OG
OPTION 4 – Nick Perry, DE/OLB
OPTION 5 – Chandler Jones, DE/OLB
OPTION 6 – Doug Martin, RB
OPTION 7 – Mychal Kendricks, MLB
Needs: C/OG, RB, OLB, MLB, S, DE, OT, WR, QB, FB, DT/NT.
Off-season Acquisitions:
RB Ray Rice (Franchised), CB Lardarius Webb (Re-Signed), C Matt Birk (Re-Signed), MLB Jameel McClain (Re-Signed), CB/ST Corey Graham (Bears), QB Curtis Painter (Colts), OLB/DE Sergio Kindle (Re-Signed), MLB Dannell Ellerbe (Re-Signed), OLB/ST Brandon Ayanbadejo (Re-Signed), S Sean Considine (Arizona), OG Justin Boren (Re-Signed), OLB Chavis Williams (Re-Signed)

30. 49ers – Kevin Zeitler, OG – Wisconsin
The Niners need to replace Adam Snyder (Arizona) and Chilo Rachal (Chicago) and Zeitler would be the mauling guard they need. If Zeitler is gone then Konz (who could play OG), Jeff Allen (who could move to OG), Amini Silatolu or even Kelechi Osemele would be in play for them here. Aside from the guard position, they’ll be looking to address the defensive front-four. Another interesting option, in the two-tight end set world, is Harbaugh reuniting with Coby Fleener and paring him with Vernon Davis.
OPTION 2 – Kendall Reyes, DT/DE
OPTION 3 – Amini Silatolu, OG
OPTION 4 – Coby Fleener, TE
OPTION 5 – Stephen Hill, WR
OPTION 6 – Jeff Allen OT/OG
Needs: OG, DE, DT/NT, backup TE, CB, WR, OLB, MLB, OT, S, C.
Off-season Acquisitions:
S Da’Shon Golden (Franchised), MLB Ahmad Brooks (Re-Signed), CB Carlos Rogers (Re-Signed), QB Alex Smith (Re-Signed), WR Randy Moss (Titans), WR Mario Manningham (Giants), RB Brandon Jacobs (Giants), QB Josh Johnson (Tampa Bay), WR Ted Ginn Jr. (Re-Signed), CB Perrish Cox (Broncos), OLB Larry Grant (Re-Signed), S C.J. Spillman (Re-Signed), OLB Tavares Gooden (Re-Signed), RB/ST Rock Cartwright (Raiders), DT Will Tukuafu (Re-Signed), CB Tramaine Brock (Re-Signed), WR Brett Swain (Re-Signed)

31. Patriots – Jerel Worthy, DT/DE – Michigan State *
What the Patriots do with pick No.27 will have a lot of say in what they do here. New England is often in a position to draft best available, but this year they do have some needs to address – although, we all know they’re likely to trade one of the picks and stockpile more for next season. Worthy would be a nice addition if they make the pick, and is a good value this late. However, they could also take the best available or look to the secondary or offensive line with the pick.
OPTION 2 – Harrison Smith, SS
OPTION 3 – Kendall Reyes, DT/DE
OPTION 4 – Janoris Jenkins, CB
OPTION 5 – Kevin Zeitler, OG
OPTION 6 – Chandler Jones, DE/OLB
OPTION 7 – Whitney Mercilus, OLB/DE
Needs: DT/NT, OLB, CB, C/OG S, DE, WR, RB, MLB, KR, OT.

32. Giants – Doug Martin, RB – Boise State
The released Brandon Jacobs and will be in the market for a compliment for Ahmad Bradshaw at some point in the draft – and I think Martin would be a good choice here. If New York wants to wait til later to add a RB then guys like Coby Fleener, Mike Adams, and Jeff Allen become next likely options. The trade to acquire Keith Rivers made is less likely they’ll go after Lavonte David or Zach Brown with this pick. The Giants are the Champs, but they need to make some upgrades to fight through a tough schedule and try to repeat.
OPTION 2 – Mike Adams, OT
OPTION 3 – Coby Fleener, TE
OPTION 4 – Jeff Allen, OT/OG
OPTION 5 – Kendall Wright, WR
Needs: OT, RB, DT, TE, CB, OLB, WR, S, DE, OG/C, MLB.
Off-season Acquisitions:

Mock Version 4.0 for @NFLDraftMonster on April 13, 2012.

This Mock, Version 4.0, will include a 5 Round Projection. There will be two more mocks to follow this one leading up to the April 26th start of the 2012 NFL Draft.

1st Round:
1. Colts – Andrew Luck, QB – Stanford *
I’m still not buying the RG3 talk, so I expect this to be Andrew Luck.
Needs: QB, WR, TE, NT, OT/OG, S, DE/OLB, CB, RB, C.

2. Redskins (Rams) – Robert Griffin III, QB – Baylor *
It almost seems like Griffin prefers to be a Washington Redskin. The Redskins made the move to come up and get him, and well – they will.
Needs: QB, CB, MLB, SS, RT, DT, OG/C, backup TE, RB, DE, K.

3. Vikings – Matt Kalil, OT – USC *
Kalil isn’t a lock for this spot, but he seems to be the closest thing to it with their need for a LT. It’s likely that Miami could make them an offer to target Tannehill,
Needs: LT, WRx2, CB, MLB, S, DT, OG, 3rd down RB, DE, C.

4. Browns – Ryan Tannehill, QB – Texas A&M
Tannehill is pretty much a lock to go to Cleveland or Miami somewhere in the Top 10. There are better prospects (Blackmon, Richardson, Claiborne), but if they want him this is the time to get him. They could go with Richardson or Blackmon here and target QB’s Brandon Weeden and Brock Osweiler with either pick No.22 or No.37.
Needs: WR, QB, RT, RB, CB, OLB, OG, DE, FS, DT, TE.

5. Tampa Bay – Trent Richardson, RB – Alabama *
Richardson being available here would be the perfect scenario for them. They need a premiere RB and since they haven’t addressed the position in Free-Agency it’s likely they go running back early in this draft. Morris Claiborne will be in the discussion too.
Needs: RB, SS, OLB, LT, CB, OG, MLB, DT, FB, C, KR, TE.

6. Rams (Redskins) – Justin Blackmon, WR – Oklahoma State *
I think St.Louis would be better off trading down (again), but it’s hard to pass on the idea of adding a playmaker with Blackmon’s potential. If Blackmon is indeed gone, then Claiborne would be the next likely pick with Riley Reiff or Michael Floyd next in line.
Needs: OT, WR, SS, CB, RB, DT, OG/C, OLB/MLB, DE, P.

7. Jaguars – Morris Claiborne, CB – LSU *
It’ll be interesting to see if Claiborne’s stock falls some (due to a score of 4 on the Wonderlic Test), but I wouldn’t count on it. Claiborne won’t make it out of the Top 10. Jacksonville signed Aaron Ross, but I think they could still stand to upgrade the CB spot – so it’d be hard to pass on him for Floyd, Coples, Ingram, or Reiff.
Needs: WR, OT, CB, DE, C, RB, DT, LB, P, OG, S, TE.

8. Dolphins – Michael Floyd, WR – Notre Dame
Floyd solidified his stock with a good Pro Day showing. Miami will be in the mix for Tannehill, but if they miss on him then replacing Brandon Marshall is likely option. The Dolphins have some options here, but Floyd’s appeal may be too high to pass on.
Needs: QB, WRx2, RT, DE, TE, RG, S/CB, NT/DL, Rush OLB.

9. Carolina – Fletcher Cox, DT/DE – Mississippi State *
Carolina would be interested in Michael Floyd or Claiborne should he fall, but adding a DT presence like Cox may be the way to go. Brockers, Coples, and Poe will also be considered, but Cox is making a strong case to be the first of the bunch off the board.
Needs: WR, CB, DT/DL, OLB, OG, MLB, RT, DE/OLB, TE, K, S.

10. Bills – Stephon Gilmore, CB/FS – South Carolina
Losing Demetrius Bell leaves a void that makes an OT the likely choice here. Riley Reiff and Jonathan Martin would makes sense, and Mike Adams is a guy to keep an eye on too. With that said, I have a feeling that Gilmore (who is one of the hottest prospect right now) could be a potential fit in Buffalo. It’d be a shock considering some of the other talent still available, but I’ve seen crazier things happen.
Needs: WR, OT, CB, TE, OLB, Backup QB, OG, DE, MLB, DB.

11. Chiefs – Luke Kuechly, MLB – Boston College
They need a big presence in the middle, so Dontari Poe could be in the mix (his stock is falling some thought) – but that presence may come in the way of BC tackling machine Luke Kuechly. It’ll be interesting to see where Kuechly fits in this draft (does he go No.8 or No.23?), but he is a talent defender who will be hard for teams to pass on.
Needs: NT, C/OG, MLB, S, DE, WR, OLB, CB, QB, RB.

12. Seattle – Melvin Ingram, DE/OLB – South Carolina
Seattle retained DT Red Bryant and added DT Jason Jones, so they’ll probably be looking for an edge rusher in this spot. Kuechly would be considered, along with Coples and Courtney Upshaw – but Ingram’s athleticism could set him apart.
Needs: DE/Pass Rusher, MLB, CB, LG/OT, WR, OLB, QB, RB, TE.

13. Arizona – Riley Reiff, OT – Iowa *
I usually slot Reiff much higher (usually No.6 to STL and now it’s unlikely he gets past Buffalo at No.10), but the emergence of defensive prospects may cause him to slide a bit. They were able to keep Levi Brown and add Adam Snyder, but rebuilding the line is still a need. Michael Floyd, if available, would make sense or they could target a DE prospect.
Needs: RT, WR, DE, OG/C, OLB, S, MLB, P, CB, QB, DT.

14. Dallas – Michael Brockers, DT/DE – LSU **
I think Dallas will be able to land either Cox or Brockers at this spot. It’d believed that they’re high on Dontari Poe, but I just think Brockers is too good to pass on. Dallas may also consider Mark Barron or Dre Kirkpatrick – and Coples is a guy to keep an eye on.
Needs: DT/NT, WR, TE, DE/OLB, OG, CB/S, P, RB, C.

15. Eagles – Courtney Upshaw, OLB/DE – Alabama
OT would have been a likely candidate until the recent signing of Demetrius Bell. I think they would perfer a guy like Fletcher Cox or Brockers – and I even think they could reach for Jerel Worthy (maybe even Lavonte David) here, but Upshaw is a nice addition himself. They need to upgrade the OLB spots and Upshaw would be a solid start.
Needs: DT, OLB, WR, OG/C, SS, RB, backup QB, OT, DE, TE, CB.

16. Jets – Cordy Glenn, OG/OT – Georgia
They’d probably love to see Michael Floyd fall to them, but their offensive line in a major issue. I think Glenn may be the best option with his versatility as a OG or a RT, but Jonathan Martin and Mike Adams would be shocking either. New York may also choose to pass on line help and take the best defender available like Coples, Barron, Perry, Mercilus, or Poe (and keep an eye on Don’t’a Hightower here too).
Needs: WRx2, SS, OG, RT, OLB, DE, MLB, RB, FS, CB.

17. Bengals (Oakland) – Dre Kirkpatrick, CB/FS – Alabama
I could see them going a different direction here, but CB is a need – and Kirkpatrick is extremely talent. DeCastro and Kendall Wright are two other likely options here, but could be in a position to take the best available.
Needs: OG, WR, CB, RB, SS, MLB, OLB, DT, OT, DE.

18. Chargers – Jonathan Martin, OT – Stanford *
It’s becoming more likely that Martin slides down the board further than expected (I think he is a steal outside of the Top 15). San Diego will be looking to replace Marcus McNeill so Martin, Cordy Glenn, or Mike Adams make sense. I think Mark Barron, Coby Fleener, and an edge defensive player (Coples, Perry, Mercilus, Branch) are in play too.
Needs: RT, SS, OG, DE/OLB rusher, TE, CB, MLB, RB, WR, NT.

19. Bears – Coby Fleener, TE – Stanford
Tight ends are such a part of the game now, so I’d expect Fleener (and/or Dwayne Allen) to get consideration from No.18 to No.30. Chicago is looking to upgrade multiple positions so there are plently of likely options, but aside from Fleener (who is a bit of a surprise pick), keep an eye on Martin, Mike Adams, Coples, Poe, and Jerel Worthy.
Needs: DT, LT, TE, CB, OLB, WR, OG DE, MLB, C, S.

20. Titans – Quinton Coples, DE/DT – North Carolina
Coples could end up sliding, but he is unarguably a Top 10 talent. The Titans added Kamerion Wimbley (and lost DT Jason Jones), but Coples may be too good pass on at this point. There in the market for a CB to replace Cortland Finnegan as well – plus names like Coby Fleener, Peter Konz, and Stephen Hill could be sleepers for this spot.
Needs: CB, C, WR, DT, DE/Pass Rusher, OLB, OG, TE, MLB, OT.

21. Bengals – David DeCastro, OG – Stanford *
I could see DeCastro going a little higher than this because he’s a potential All-Pro caliber player (but he is also an interior lineman). The Bengals could target him at No.17 and consider the likes of offensive weapons Kendall Wright, Stephen Hill, Lamar Miller here. Cincinnati is in a great position to improve their club at No.17 and No.21.
Needs: OG, WR, CB, RB, SS, MLB, OLB, DT, OT, DE.

22. Browns (Falcons) – Kendall Wright, WR – Baylor
If they pass on Tannehill early then this could be a spot to target a QB, but regardless they need to add playmakers around a quarterback. Wright would be a nice fit for Cleveland, but they’ll also consider Mike Adams to play RT if he is available. They also need to draft a long-term solution at RB, so maybe it’s Lamar Miller or Doug Martin here.
Needs: WR, QB, RT, RB, CB, OLB, OG, DE, FS, DT, TE.

23. Lions – Mike Adams, OT – Ohio State
Adams could potentially go as high as No.10 or No.13, or as low as No.32. The Lions may have other needs that seem more glaring, but Jeff Backus can’t play forever. Peter Konz would be tempting (but, it’s probably too early) as well as the highly questioned Janoris Jenkins. I think that CB is the likely pick, but I doubt they pass on Adams.
Needs: C/OG, CB, OLB, OT, MLB, S, DE, RB, WR, FB.

24. Steelers – Dontari Poe, NT/DT – Memphis *
‘Poesanity’ is cooling off, but the Steelers wouldn’t have a problem adding the massive Poe as a replacement for Casey Hampton in the middle. Poe could go as high as No.9 or No.11 after his combine workout, but questions regarding game-tape could cause him to slide. Pittsburgh has options (Hightower, Jenkins, Adams), but Poe shouldn’t get pass them.
Needs: MLB, RB, CB, OT, NT, TE, OG, WR, DE/OLB, S, backup QB.

25. Denver – Jerel Worthy, DT/DE – Michigan State *
I could see Worthy sneaking up boards (maybe the Eagles at No.15) or even falling into Round 2 – but Denver needs to replace Brodrick Bunkley and upgrade their front 7. Kendall Reyes and Devon Still are other possible options, or they could take the best edge rusher available. They may look to find a future replacement for Champ Bailey too.
Needs: DT, CB, DE/OLB, RB, WRx2, OG/C, QB, S, MLB.

26. Texans – Whitney Mercilus, DE/OLB – Illinois *
Losing Mario Williams was a big blow, and created a need for an edge pass rusher. Mercilus lead the nation in Sacks and FF for he would seemingly be a natural fit for DC Wade Phillips 3-4 scheme. Nick Perry, Andre Branch, Chandler Jones may also get a look if that’s the direction they go. Stephen Hill would be awful tempting too.
Needs: DE/OLB, WR, OT, MLB, CB, OG, NT/DT, TE, S, C, K.

27. Patriots (Saints) – Mark Barron, SS – Alabama
I think Barron could go as high as No.14 to Dallas or end up closer to the middle of the round – but New England would be happy to add a player of his talent here. It’ll be hard to say what the Patriots will do, but I think they’ll look to upgrade the defensive unit.
Needs: DT/NT, CB, C, OLB, S, DE, WR, OG, RB, MLB, KR, OT.

28. Packers – Nick Perry, DE/OLB – USC *
The Packers need to upgrade the defensive side of the ball. I’d look for them to take the best defender on their board, and well Perry is a pretty good option this late. I like Perry a lot and wouldn’t be surprised if he went earlier; however prospects like Janoris Jenkins, Devin Still, Kendall Reyes, and Andre Branch could be in the mix too.
Needs: CB, DE/OLB, S, DT, OT, backup QB, RB, OG/C, MLB, WR.

29. Ravens – Dont’a Hightower, MLB – Alabama
Ray Lewis continues to play at a high level, but he isn’t going to play forever. Hightower is a prospect who could land at No.24 or be drafted even higher (maybe No.16) so I think it’s good value at this spot. Baltimore has a few other options here, including Peter Konz, but it’d be hard to let Hightower slip by.
Needs: MLB, C/OG, RB, OLB/DE, OT, S, WR, QB, DT.

30. 49ers – Stephen Hill, WR – Georgia Tech *
They added Randy Moss and Mario Manningham, but neither are a long-term solution at the position. I think Coby Fleener would fit nicely for two tight-end sets, but Hill has show impressive measurable that should land him in Round 1. SanFran may also look to upgrade the defensive line if the right guy for their system is available.
Needs: DE/DT, OG/C, NT, backup TE, WR, CB, OT, OLB, S, QB.

31. Patriots – Kendall Reyes, DT/DE – U Conn
They’ve added some DE’s via Free-Agency, but they still need an inside presence with either pick No.27 or No.31. Reyes is moving up boards and may end up landing in the latter part of Round 1, but other options would include Devon Still and Jerel Worthy. New England has two more picks in Round 2, but they could target Peter Konz, Zach Brown, Ronnell Lewis, or Kevin Zeitler here.
Needs: DT/NT, CB, C, OLB, S, DE, WR, OG, RB, MLB, KR, OT.

32. Giants – Lavonte David, OLB/MLB – Nebraska
The Giants may opt to add a RB like Doug Martin here to help add depth to their backfield, but they’ll probably target David, Zach Brown, or Ronnell Lewis to upgrade the linebacker core. They are the Super Bowl Champs, so they shouldn’t have too many holes to fill, but other possible options are Janoris Jenkins, Bobby Massie, or Rueben Randle.
Needs: OT, OLB, RB, TE, CB, WR, DT, OG, MLB, DE, S.

No 1st Round Pick –
Oakland – Needs: RT, NT/DT, OG/C, TE, RB, OLB, backup QB, DE, DB, WR.
Falcons – Needs: DE, CB, TE, OG/C, OLB, FS, OT, WR, DT, backup QB, RB.
Saints – Needs: CB, S, OT, WR, DT, OLB, backup QB, MLB, OG, DE, FB.

34. Colts – Dwayne Allen, TE – Clemson *

37. Browns – Doug Martin, RB – Boise State
38. Jaguars – Andre Branch, DE/OLB – Clemson
